Ted Olson, the Former U.S. Solicitor General, Speaks about Education Reform with the Core of Education
(PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Former U.S. Solicitor General, Ted Olson, sits down with Dr. Berger at the National Summit on Education Reform presented by The Foundation for Excellence in Education. Olson, who attended the conference as a keynote speaker, chats with the Core of Education in a new podcast about his latest case, Vergara v. California, his ongoing work with Students Matter, and much more.
During the National Summit on Education Reform Dr. Berger sat down with thought leaders including Digital Learning Now!'s Executive Director John Bailey, and Foundation for Excellence in Education’s CEO Patricia Levesque, to discuss reform, technology, the power of parents, and more. The conference brought together leading voices in education including former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Former Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, along with others.
Theodore B. Olson was Solicitor General of the United States from 2001-2004 and was Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice from 1981 to 1984. As one of the nation’s premier appellate and United States Supreme Court advocates, Mr. Olson has argued 58 cases in the Supreme Court, including Bush v. Gore, stemming from the 2000 presidential election.
Olson speaks to his work with Students Matter, a national nonprofit dedicated to sponsoring impact litigation to promote access to quality public education. The case he leads for Students Matter, Vergara v. California, is working to strike down state laws which restrict California from implementing a new teacher career system that more keenly focuses on elevating teacher quality, raising the prestige of the teaching profession, and promoting equal access to quality education for all students.
"Vergara v. California has the potential to fundamentally alter the institution of education," said Dr. Berger. He continued, "Olson's passion for education reform seems matched only by the scope of his vision."
