Telecommuting Rate Surges for IT Professionals
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- According to CIO magazine, 82 percent of IT employment professionals prefer having the option to work at home and believe a flexible work schedule leads to a less stressful work environment. Furthermore an overwhelming majority of offices supporting telecommuting saw higher employee morale, productivity and attendance. An employee who works at home just two days a week can save $3,800 on average per year.
Beyond the benefits to the employee, companies are seeing reduced real estate and infrastructure costs due to active telecommuting policies. Reports show a savings of $11,000 on average per year. On a larger scale, companies who allow their employees to work from home are going green by reducing employee commutes thus contributing to a cleaner environment.
Overall the IT industry has seen an increase in the number of professionals flocking to the sector and flexible schedules may have a strong impact on the increased interest in the field. According to the recent Employment Situation Economic Release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which was published April 4, 2014, there was a slight increase in the number of jobs in the computer systems design and related services sector. The sector now employees 1,742,000 professionals compared to 1,736,000 in February 2014.
