Telrad Networks First to Receive AeroMACS Certification for Broadband Wireless in Aviation Industry
Lod, Israel (PRWEB) July 21, 2016 -- Telrad Networks, global provider of TD-LTE and other 4G broadband solutions, today announced that it is amongst the first ever to receive the AeroMACS Radio Conformance Tests (RCT) certification by WiMAX Forum®, approving the use of its 4G solutions by airport authorities around the world. This achievement reflects Telrad Networks’ 4G leadership and on-going contribution to the acceleration of industry standardization for airport wireless networks.
AeroMACS (Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communications System) is now being adopted as a standard for wireless networks in airports worldwide. The WiMAX Forum Certified™ seal of approval, awarded to Telrad, is granted to products that successfully passed rigorous third party testing to fully comply with the strict conformance standards of the WiMAX Forum and aviation regulatory bodies. The certified equipment will allow aviation customers to enjoy the advantages of a scalable platform and a wide range of interoperable devices, ensuring competitive prices gained through economies of scale.
The tests were performed at Powertech Labs located in Canada. Telrad received the certifications for its BreezeCOMPACT 1000 base station and the CPE5500 devices in the 5.1 GHz frequency band. Airports, aviation authorities, as well as their system integrators can now select the Telrad solution confidently to enable next-generation wireless broadband networks for ground voice, video, and data communications. This type of communication will significantly improve surface traffic movement to reduce congestion and delays, and help prevent runway incursions, as well as enhance the loading of flight plans and aircraft access to system wide information management (SWIM) services for delivery of time-critical advisory information to the cockpit.
”The WiMAX Forum would like to thank Telrad Networks who have worked so hard to achieve today’s milestone and for enabling us to continue to reach critical objectives with the AeroMACS certification program," said Declan Byrne, president of the WiMAX Forum. "Telrad has played an important role in our success of driving the global aviation market momentum in adopting certified 4G broadband equipment.”
“We are extremely proud to be the first vendor to achieve the AeroMACS 5.1 GHz Wave 1 certification, demonstrating our leadership position in the 4G and AeroMACS industry,” said Ran Bukshpan, CEO of Telrad Networks. “We are at the forefront of the industry with an innovative, field-proven and standards-based AeroMACS solution. Telrad has made a strategic investment into AeroMACS, with a commitment to product development, contribution to setting the industry standards, and participation in events and projects around the globe, including the United States, Europe, Asia and CIS.”
The Telrad Networks AeroMACS certified wireless solution for airports, consists of an end-to-end 4G solution, including the BreezeCOMPACT base station, CPE5000 fixed or mobile devices, an ASN-GW and the StarSuite network management system. The solution provides an ideal solution for airports to replace or supplement existing cable loop system with a more efficient and cost-effective network. Telrad delivers a highly secured digital wireless broadband solution with a Software Defined Radio, which allows for software-only upgrades to updated technologies, including a seamless path from WiMAX to LTE.
