TENJAM Showcases Crowdsourcing Furniture Design at the 2013 NeoCon World’s Trade Fair
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Crowdsourcing Furniture Design? That’s what TENJAM, a Georgia based corporation, showcased last month at the 2013 NeoCon World’s Trade Fair. They exhibited many forms and furniture products that started as design ideas presented to them by people outside the company. TENJAM has quickly become a frontrunner in flexible furniture design and manufacturing. They borrowed a page from the popular “crowdsourcing” concept used by todays fast companies. The idea is to give ultimate design freedom directly to Architects, Interior Designers, furniture dealers, and their customers. This design freedom is backed up with flexible manufacturing that allows new designs to enter production immediately. This is not your traditional furniture offering. TENJAM furniture is modern, fun and fresh. And, it’s just foam with a finished coating.
In June TENJAM also launched the new http://www.tenjam.com, a new interactive website that gives visitors the ability to view many of their custom furniture creations in multiple perspectives and in 20 different colors. Site visitors also have access to dimensioned line drawings. There is also a secure side of the website for dealer salespeople where they can instantly access pricing for each item, marketing, and technical data.
About TENJAM
TENJAM’s motto is: Design Your Vision, we build your shape, size, and color.
Their flexibility in design and manufacturing comes by eliminating the need for metal and wood frames, upholstery, screws, and tacks. TENJAM starts every order with a raw block of CertiPUR-US® certified foam. As soon as the product design is complete they program their computer controlled CNC contour cutting machines to precisely carve the forms and furniture shapes from the foam blocks. The foam shapes are then finished with an ultra-durable spray applied coating that is colored to the customers specification. They can make instant changes to shapes and sizes because they are cutting furniture from foam and not piecing together furniture with frames and parts from various suppliers. They can match their finished coating to various color standards like RAL®, Pantone®, or Sherwin Williams® and others.
The idea of using just foam and a color coating to make furniture appears simple. However, the foam and coating science is extremely innovative and required months of engineering and testing. Cutting foam that will have a spray applied coating requires much greater precision than cutting foam that will be upholstered. Upholstery conceals lesser quality foam imperfections and poor cuts. TENJAM uses a special fire rated foam blend that is very supportive and has wonderful consistency. Their CNC machines are also specifically calibrated for the precision required. The finished results are products that score a perfect TEN in Safety, Durability, Washability, and Visual Greatness.
TENJAM products were engineered for high traffic environments like healthcare facilities, schools, and retail environments. The crowdsourcing mentality has given design freedom to the customers, and the customers are quickly taking TENJAM into their markets and opening their imaginations.
