Terascala Sets Record Annual Sales and Doubles Its OEM Business for 2014
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- Terascala, the industry leader in High Performance Computing (HPC) storage management software, today announced that it had more than doubled—126% increase—its year-over-year OEM bookings and had a record year for its business in 2014. The company attributes its success to customers requiring shrink-wrapped HPC storage appliances with a fast open source Lustre® file system in conjunction with Terascala’s TeraOS software to manage data, performance and reliability. Terascala’s OEMs—Dell and NetApp—have also recently refreshed their solutions to keep them on the cutting edge of performance and capacity, that will enable the growth trend to continue this year. Terascala’s stellar growth rate is an indication that HPC and big data storage customers realize the importance of having intelligent management software governing their storage solutions.
Terascala’s TeraOS software is embedded in the Dell HPC Storage Solution (HSS) offerings and the NetApp High Performance Storage Solution (HPSS) for Lustre. It has attracted quite a customer following with a long list of marquee names including Cummins, Westinghouse, Grundfos, Novartis, Honeywell, Beatson, MIT, John Hopkins University, Cornell, Translational Genomics Research Institute, and the National Cancer Institute. Terascala’s customers want to avoid the headaches that come with rolling their own HPC storage solution and dedicating resources to support it. To meet the needs of their users, they require Lustre storage systems that are available around-the-clock and optimized for performance.
“In our selection process, dedicating resources to standing-up and managing HPC storage wasn’t an option,” declared Damian Doyle, director of enterprise infrastructure and support at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
Terascala is also expanding its global footprint with recent new customers in Europe. “I expect Europe and Asia-Pac to be growth engines for the company,” remarked Steve Butler, Terascala's chief executive officer. “Requirements around big data, such as I/O performance at scale, will continue to drive the market for Lustre-based storage appliances.”
About Terascala
Terascala—the High Performance Computing (HPC) storage management company—has pioneered software that lowers total cost of ownership by managing and optimizing data, performance, and reliability. Savings are quickly realized through minimizing downtime, moving data very fast between scratch and inexpensive backup storage, and optimizing workload throughput. The company’s TeraOS software provides system-level high availability to reduce costly degraded performance and downtime. It integrates workload, network, storage, and file system monitoring, analysis, pre-emptive failure alerts, and fast failover. Terascala’s real-time analysis and phone-home support keeps these highly complex systems up and running at peak performance. Support costs are minimized with no HPC or parallel file system expertise required.
