TESOL and IATEFL Partner to Host a Joint Web Conference
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) October 06, 2016 -- Alexandria, VA (6 October 2016) – TESOL International Association and IATEFL are partnering to host 50 Years of English Language Teaching Professional Development, A Joint Web Conference, to be held 17–19 November 2016. This marks the first-ever joint event from these two premier English language professional associations.
“We at IATEFL are delighted to be taking part in this joint web conference with TESOL,” said President of IATEFL, Marjorie Rosenberg. “We see this as the next step in a successful collaboration which has developed over time, and was recently marked by IATEFL receiving the TESOL President’s Award in 2016.”
Through this joint web conference, which is free for participants, TESOL and IATEFL seek to bring distinguished experts in the English language teaching field to a global audience who would otherwise be unable to attend their face-to-face events. Andy Curtis, Ph.D., and David Nunan, Ph.D., both TESOL Past Presidents, as well as David Crystal, Ph.D., Patron of IATEFL, are among the distinguished speakers, who hail from six continents and represent a wide variety of fields under the umbrella of English language teaching.
“As the TESOL profession continues to expand globally, it is incumbent upon professional associations like IATEFL and TESOL to share our expertise with teachers and teacher trainers as a service that can reach many at no cost. By offering this virtual conference to those who may not be able to afford a face-to-face event, IATEFL and TESOL honor their mission. TESOL is privileged to share this effort with IATEFL”, noted TESOL Executive Director Rosa Aronson.
The joint conference will focus on three themes: “World Englishes,” “Teacher Identity,” and “Professional Development Through Teacher Associations.” These themes have become salient issues in many parts of the world, and this conference gives participants an opportunity to discuss them on a global stage.
Each day will feature five speakers and a panel discussion, and participants will have the chance to ask questions through a dedicated Q&A chat box via the online conference platform.
