(PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- TESOL International Association, a professional association committed to promoting excellence in English language teaching, will hold academies in Chandigarh, India, and Galloway, New Jersey, USA, this year.
Typically held on university campuses, TESOL Academies give TESOL practitioners, program administrators, and content-area teachers an opportunity to sharpen their skills in a peer-to-peer learning environment. Each academy features a series of intensive, hands-on workshops led by thought leaders in the field of English language teaching.
“The academies are structured to encourage collaboration and inclusion,” notes Rosa Aronson, TESOL executive director. “The workshop format fosters knowledge sharing, not only between presenters and attendees, but also among attendees themselves.”
In 2015, TESOL will offer an academy 24–25 April in Chandigarh, India. The program is designed to help teachers in India and surrounding regions meet the needs of their students, who come to the classroom from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of learning styles and expectations. Grounded in the latest research, the six academy workshops deal with pedagogy, assessment, technology in the classroom, and course design. TESOL is proud to partner with the Regional English Language Office, U.S. Embassy, India, and the Regional Institute of English, Chandigarh, India, for this TESOL Academy, and gratefully acknowledges the support of its Strategic Partner, National Geographic Learning.
The second academy in 2015 will be held on the campus of Stockton University, formerly the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, in Galloway, New Jersey, USA, 19–20 June. This academy, organized in partnership with New Jersey TESOL, an affiliate of TESOL International Association, will offer a wide range of workshop topics including teaching sciences to English language learners and teaching English language learners with special needs.
