Texas-Based Non-Profit Aims to Eliminate Texting and Driving
Houston, TX (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- Power to Kids, Inc., a Texas non-profit corporation, has recently started a program called FinishAliveStopTexting (F.A.S.T.). The vision of the F.A.S.T. program is to eliminate traffic deaths caused by distracted driving by developing a national public awareness platform to change drivers’ habits so they will not text and drive, thereby saving lives.
“What I’m trying to do is bring awareness to teenagers and their parents of the dangers of texting and driving. It’s just killing too many people when it doesn’t have to," said Doug Mathes of F.A.S.T.
Every day, nine people are killed in the U.S. by distracted driving. F.A.S.T. works to resolve this by making the public more aware of the dangers of driving while texting. When drivers text, they take their eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds. At high speeds, this can mean driving the entire length of a football field blind.
F.A.S.T. invites the public to join them in the fight to end distracted driving and take the pledge. Visit http://finishalivestoptexting.org/get-involved/ and make the commitment to drive phone-free.
