Texas Sponsor A Highway Completes Four Months of Clean-up on the Houston Roadways Following Hurricane Harvey
HOUSTON (PRWEB) June 01, 2018 -- Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall in the United States in August 2017, caused over $125 billion in damage including catastrophic flooding in the Houston area. The TSAH teams have now cleared 2,600 bags of debris and litter left in the aftermath of the storm equating to 20,808 lbs of waste.
Patricia Nelson, President of Texas Sponsor a Highway® commented, “Hurricane Harvey required a collective effort to recover from this catastrophic event; gratefully, through the efforts of many within our organization and the commitment of our Houston sponsors who support our highway sponsorship program, we were able to contribute in meaningful ways to the clean-up effort after the storm.”
Immediately following the storm it was estimated that the garbage and ruined possessions of over 200,000 Houston homes totalled 8 million cubic yards with a cost of $91 million for the clean-up. Texas Sponsor A Highway® program contributed to the operation covering 576 miles over the four-month period from November 2017 to February 2018.
“After Hurricane Harvey, our crews worked continuously to clean the litter and debris left behind on the roadways. Our crews live in Houston, and they were proud to be part of the recovery effort.” added TSAH’s Director of Operations, Lynn Migdal.
