Texas Students Get Britannica Resources; All Public School Students to Have Award-Winning Britannica School Solution
Chicago, Ill. (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Britannica Digital Learning announced today that all students in the public schools of Texas will have access to two of its flagship education products thanks to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s TexQuest program.
Under an agreement with the State Library, beginning in June, students, teachers, and families in all of the state’s public K-12 schools will have unlimited use of Britannica School, an online and mobile knowledge and information solution for the K-12 classroom.
They will also have access to Britannica’s Spanish Reference Center. Both products will be available to users 24/7 in the classroom, at home, or anywhere they are connected to the Internet.
“Britannica School is the information solution for today’s digital classroom, and it will provide a host of benefits to the students, teachers and families of Texas,” said Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president with Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc.
“We are excited to be able to offer this outstanding resource to the K-12 students and teachers of Texas as an extremely rich and authoritative source of material for study, homework and independent learning,” said Mark Smith, Director and Librarian of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Britannica School has a host of distinctive features and benefits that set it apart from other school products. With extensive, up-to-date information sources, it’s specially designed for differentiated instruction, allowing students to move easily to material of higher or lower reading levels as needed. Unlike most Web-based products, it’s made to display well on any device, be it PC, tablet or smart phone.
The content of Britannia School is reliable, age-appropriate, updated continuously and closely correlated to all curriculum standards, including the Common Core State Standards, for which it provides a multitude of suitable texts in all subjects. The product has won several awards, including the prestigious Golden Lamp from the Association of American Publishers.
Texas is one of a growing number of states and countries eager to make high-quality learning resources widely available to its students, teachers and library patrons. Other Britannica subscribers include Brazil, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, many U.S. and Australian states and Canadian provinces. They enjoy substantial discounts by subscribing at the national or state level, as well as the educational benefits of providing these resources to students and citizens.
