The 2015 Julius Erving Golf Classic, Hosted by Dr. J, to Be Held September 12-14 in Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) September 02, 2015 -- The legendary Hall of Fame Basketball forward Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving, will host the Julius Erving Golf Classic (JEGC), a luxury weekend in Philadelphia that will welcome celebrities, golfers and fellow athletes for a one-of-a-kind weekend of legends, lifestyle and sports in support of The Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia.
Celebrities joining Erving in Philadelphia for the event include: Former NBA stars Gerald Henderson, Alonzo Mourning, Rick Mahorn, Doug Overton, Malik Rose and World Free; retired baseball stars Reggie Jackson and Joe Carter; and hockey legends Todd Fedourk and John LeClair. Also attending, actor and comedian George Lopez, Cedric The Entertainer, Sinbad, Alan Thicke and Vivica A. Fox; Professional Golfer and Fashion Designer, Seema Sadekar, ESPN Sportscenter anchor, Jay Harris, and Comcast SportsNet Sportscaster Mark Zumoff.
The three-day event kicks-off on September 12, at 10 a.m., with the Erving Youth Basketball Clinic at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center in partnership with the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia. Through the clinic, which Erving will host with daughter Jazmin, Founder and Executive Director of GRAB A BALL & PLAY Foundation, the Erving’s are looking to give back to the Philly community and provide young people with #HopeWithABasketball and one-on-one coaching from Mr. Erving himself.

The JEGC is partnering with the Philadelphia 76ers, who will participate in the weekend events, be the presenting sponsor of the Erving Dinner & Prize Ceremony, and provide special Erving memorabilia and images for use on course for the Julius Erving museum, where each hole will journey signature moments in time throughout Ervings’ iconic career in basketball.

Additionally, the JEGC has partnered with Black Clover Enterprises on a #DRJRedHat campaign that will provide red hats to all youth and event participants, representing Erving’s iconic career, his ties to Philadelphia and his desire to give back and inspire youth alongside the Salvation Army.

On September 13, Aronimink Golf Club will host the Elite Partner Practice Rounds followed by the Erving “Black Tie” Ball and Red Carpet Pairings Party presented by The Rittenhouse, Philadelphia’s most historical and luxurious hotel. At the Black Tie event, guests will mix and mingle while sipping on signature Erving cocktails presented by CASAMIGOS Tequila. On the final day, September 14, guests will head to Aronimink Golf Club to tee-it-up at the Erving Golf Classic tournament. During the golf tournament, the ladies will enjoy a Champagne and Caviar in the famed Aronimink Clubhouse with Dorys Erving, wife of Julius Erving.
