The 2016 Women's Private Equity Summit to Honor Pioneering Connecticut Treasurer Denise L. Nappier With the 5th Annual Private Equity Trailblazer Award
Lexington, Massachusetts (PRWEB) February 24, 2016 -- The 9th annual Women’s Private Equity Summit will be held March 9 – 11, 2016 at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, California. As this major industry conference for senior-level women in private equity and venture capital marks its ninth year, the Summit’s influence continues to grow. Conference producer Falk Marques Group expects more than 500 attendees at the 2016 event.
In a highlight at the conference, Denise L. Nappier, Treasurer of the State of Connecticut, will be awarded the fifth annual Private Equity Trailblazer Award in honor of her considerable contributions to the industry. Treasurer Nappier will participate in a Keynote Interview at the Summit with JoAnn Price, the 2013 Trailblazer Award recipient. First elected in 1998, Treasurer Nappier is the only woman to be elected Treasurer in Connecticut history, the first African-American woman elected to any statewide office in Connecticut, and the first African-American woman elected to serve as State Treasurer in the United States.
Beth Falk, Summit Founder and President of Falk Marques Group, says the Women’s Private Equity Summit is a “uniquely valuable conference for the world’s most accomplished women in the industry.” Falk notes that the Summit is the only conference focused on promoting the success of women leaders — GPs, LPs and advisors to the industry. “Women come to Half Moon Bay year after year for the unmatched networking, fundraising and deal-making opportunities and to gain access to hard-to-get information.”
After a stretch of extraordinary growth, the private equity and venture capital markets are once again in flux. With global uncertainty, higher interest rates and sliding stocks, 2016 could prove to be a dramatically different year. The Summit will zero in on these important industry trends, examining the impact this volatility could have on key market segments. A “Who’s Who” of speakers drawn from the private equity world’s top limited partners, general partners and advisors include: Carrie A. Wheeler, Partner, TPG Capital; Allison K. Thacker, President and Chief Investment Officer, Rice Management Company; Jenny Lee, Managing Partner, GGV Capital; Ann Huntress Lamont, Managing Partner, Oak HC/FT and Oak Investment Partners; Runa Alam, Chief Executive Officer, DPI; Margaret McKnight, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director, Metropolitan Real Estate; Jennifer Fonstad, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Aspect Ventures; Tara Blackburn, Managing Director, Hamilton Lane; Lynn Baranski, Managing Director and Global Chief Investment Officer, BlackRock Private Equity Partners; Alpa Patel, Branch Chief, Private Funds Branch, Division of Investment Management, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Sandra Bosela, Co-Group Head, Managing Director and Global Head of Private Equity, OPTrust Private Markets Group. A new addition to this year’s Summit agenda are breakout sessions called "Ask the LPs" — an informal set of sessions facilitated by LPs involved in a broad range of alternatives investing. “With these more relaxed sessions, GPs can finally ask LPs the questions they’ve always wanted to ask,” says Falk.
