The 3rd Annual Miami Fashion Film Festival to Kick-off Fall in Miami
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) September 13, 2015 -- The Miami Fashion Film Festival returns for a third year, September 16-17, 2015, to celebrate the art and culture of fashion through film, benefiting Fashion Inspires More, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the fashion dialogue through art, technology and education.
The two-day program kicks-off with “Surreal Style,” a fashion photo and art collage exhibit by artist Deming King Harriman. Hosted by .MIAMI at ThreeSixtySpaces, Harriman’s exhibit is inspired by fashion photography and surrealism to create portraits of her inner personas through the process of destruction and reconstruction.
Day two of the festival commences at Miami Beach Cinematheque with a showcase of films, accompanied by KIND Snacks, that includes educational documentaries that highlight fashion creatives at work as well as experimental and short films that link graphics, sound, and motion to fashion design in real or digitally imagined environments. “Fashion is constantly evolving and so is fashion as a thematic genre of film that is capturing larger audiences increasingly each year,” said Grace Castro, Founder of Fashion Inspires More and the Miami Fashion Film Festival. With more than 60 film entries this year by filmmakers from more than 18 countries, fashion film is on an upward trend.
In partnership with The Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Archives, the Miami Fashion Film Festival will also take a retrospective look at unique, preserved film and video images of local television news fashion coverage. Guests are invited to join the conversation about the evolution of fashion journalism on and off screen and the history of fashion reporting. The “Fashion Reporting: As History Tells It” chat will include personal perspectives by Constance Jones, local WPLG ABC Reporter, Ashley Brozic, Miami.Racked.com Journalist, Keni Valenti, Founder of The Museum of Fashion, and will be moderated by Kevin Wynn, Public Programs Coordinator for The Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Archives.
The final screening ends with an awards ceremony to acknowledge a host of international filmmakers, selected in part by guest jury members Leni Rico, Actress, Christianne Christensen, Actress and Film Producer, and Angeles Almuna, Fashion Photographer, Filmmaker and Blogger, and includes a post-event finale over cocktails at Freehand Miami’s 27 Restaurant & Bar.
