The A Position Journalists Take on The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel in SW Florida
Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Golf Media Network and The A Position.com take their games to Southwest Florida this month in pursuit of great golf, memorable off-course adventures, and exciting visuals in this lesser-known corner of the Sunshine State.
From April 27 – May 1, three writers and a videographer from Golf Media Network will play golf (even including miniature golf, at the jungle-themed Smuggler’s Cove), enjoy food and lodging at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa, explore Sanibel and Captiva islands, tour the winter estates of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, and enjoy a spring sojourn to one of the most pristine getaways on Florida’s Gulf coast.
The journalists will create and broadcast daily original content via a collection of web sites and social media that will be further disseminated by sponsor partners. Content will include short travelogues, videos, and reviews of courses, restaurants, and other attractions, as well as the observations of a team of seasoned golf journalists.
The foursome will be lead by Brian McCallen, a long-time golf travel writer whose credits include GOLF Magazine (where he was a Senior Editor for 16 years), Robb Report, Cigar Aficionado, Travel & Leisure, the Washington Post, and many other top publications. Tom Bedell is a nationally syndicated beer authority who writes about golf and golf travel for Celebrated Living, American Airlines’ luxury magazine, and for Virtuoso Life, Lexus Magazine, Acura Style, American Way, and many others. Hal Phillips, the former editor-in-chief of Golf Course News, has written for GOLF Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Links, and Golfweek, among others, and also heads up Mandarin Media, which serves clients in Southeast Asia.
At The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, the writers will be videoed by David Whyte, a Scottish video producer, writer, and photographer specializing in golf travel. His golf destination videos appear on airlines around the world in ”Golf Passport”, a 30-minute program that explores the best places to stay and play.
While known for its exclusive private clubs, the unsung Lee County region has several notable resort and daily-fee courses. The Golf Road Warriors will tee it up at Raptor Bay, the Hyatt Regency’s resort course; Dunes Golf & Tennis Club, a sporty course on Sanibel Island; and Old Corkscrew, an Audubon-certified Jack Nicklaus-designed layout ranked among the most challenging courses in the state.
