The Accidental Club to Premiere at Boulder International Fringe Festival
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) July 16, 2016 -- Sherrie Scott's "The Accidental Club," a new one-woman musical exploring life, fame, addiction and death, will debut at the Boulder International Fringe Festival, with six live shows between August 18 and August 25, 2016 at Shine Restaurant & Gathering Place in Boulder.
Written, directed and starring Sherrie Scott, "The Accidental Club" is the story of Mira Dawson, a washed-up rock singer who dies of an accidental overdose and encounters Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse (all members of the “Accidental Club”) on the other side. Given the chance to return to earth for one night only, she performs one last concert, with a new perspective on life, death, addiction and more. Will she wake up? Will we?
Scott notes that inspiration for the show came directly from some of her favorite singers, including Janis, Billie and Amy, all of whom died by accidental overdose. "I wondered what would happen if they came back today,” Scott said. “What would be their take on life, death, fame and what's going on in the world? What advice would they have? Would they have an answer for today’s growing heroin epidemic? That's what I tried to explore in 'The Accidental Club'."
The Fringe Festival performances of "The Accidental Club" will be presented as a special one-hour version of the show, with Ricardo Pena supporting Sherrie Scott on guitar and piano.
