The Alameda County Fair Board Selects Three New Members
Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Three new Directors have been selected to serve on the Board of the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Association. As one of the largest non-profit organizations in Northern California, the Fair Association’s 26 Board Members oversee the operations of the Alameda County Fairgrounds which attracts over three million visitors each year. The Alameda County Fair Board of Directors welcomes the knowledge, expertise, and community ties that George Pacheco, Jr. of Castro Valley; Craig Smith of Pleasanton; and Timothy Weaver of Livermore, bring to the Board. President of the Fair Board, Janet Lockhart states, “The leadership, fiscal expertise, and community service commitment by these three talented individuals will be a benefit to the Fair Board and the Fair community.”
George Pacheco, Jr. of Castro Valley, has been president of Pacheco Brothers Gardening, Inc. since 1979, and brings expertise in business, horticulture and construction. Pacheco’s community involvement includes work with Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. “I would like the Fairgrounds to continue to keep all events safe; safe for families to bring their children. The Fairgrounds are in a great location and a great asset to the community,” says Pacheco.
Pleasanton’s Craig Smith serves as Chief Operating Officer for Dorhmann Insurance and has expertise in business and livestock. A long-time resident, Smith has participated in raising and showing livestock at the Fair since he was 9-years-old. “The Alameda County Fair is the largest event in the county and I believe community involvement is essential for continued growth,” says Smith
Livermore resident Timothy Weaver, President of Weaver & McCartney Accountancy Corporation, has over 40 years experience as a CPA working with numerous businesses and non-profit organizations. Weaver is an active member of community organizations including the Lions Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and serves on the Valley Care Health System Board of Directors. “My goal is to contribute to the long range planning, to maximize the best use of the Fairgrounds for the future of Alameda County, Fair guests, and the Tri-Valley economy,” says Weaver.
The Fairgrounds is home to the oldest one mile Race Track in America dating back to 1858. The Fair Association is well underway preparing for the 2014 Alameda County Fair to be held June 18 through July 6. The Alameda County Fair is ranked as one of the top 50 fairs in the United States and has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally.
