The Alford Group Builds Management Team for Future Growth
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- The Alford Group, a leading full-service consulting firm to nonprofits, is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Rotko-Wynn, CFRE and Sharon Tiknis as executive vice presidents. The move represents a strengthening of The Alford Group’s management team as the two partner with Brenda B. Asare, President & CEO to provide the highest quality counsel to nonprofits nationally.
Karen Rotko-Wynn will continue as manager for the firm’s West division. She has managed The Alford Group’s West division from Seattle for 12 years, providing leadership and client services focused on campaigns, feasibility studies, development assessments and planning, and governance.
Sharon Tiknis will assume responsibility for managing the firm’s East division, focusing efforts on serving the nonprofit sector east of the Mississippi River through strategic planning, organizational development, fundraising campaigns and diverse resource development strategies.

Karen Rotko-Wynn, CFRE brings more than 30 years of experience to her work with The Alford Group, where she helps organizations build their philanthropic capacity and trains board members and staff on their roles in that process. She also leads organizations through the cultivation and solicitation process resulting in successful leadership giving campaigns. In her time with The Alford Group, Karen has worked with more than 50 not-for-profit organizations, offering expertise on major gifts, organizational development, feasibility studies and capital campaigns.
Karen teaches the fundraising curriculum at the University of Washington certificate program in nonprofit management, serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) National Foundation Board and is a member and past President of the AFP Washington Chapter Board. She is a nationally sought-after speaker on major gift development, capital campaign preparation and strategies, board engagement and building a culture of philanthropy.
Karen is a member of the Fundraising Management Advisory Board for the University of Washington and is an alum of the 1993 class of Leadership Tomorrow.
Sharon Tiknis has served as The Alford Group’s Senior Vice President of Business Development since July 2014. Over the last year, Tiknis has worked with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, the Chicago Academy of Sciences and its Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and SkyArt.
Prior to joining The Alford Group, Tiknis spearheaded a $58.5 million comprehensive campaign with Children’s Home & Aid where 50% of the goal was secured in the first 18 months. Prior to Children’s Home + Aid, Tiknis served as the Interim Executive Director for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and in senior level positions for San Diego Children’s Center, the Tony Award winning Alley Theater in Houston, the prestigious Honolulu Academy of Arts and the distinguished College of Communications and Fine Arts at Central Michigan University.
Tiknis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral sciences and business from Grand Canyon University, and attended the University of Arizona for graduate studies. She is a trustee and Chair of the Advancement Committee of Grand River Academy.
