The American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) and True U Laser Launch 2-Day Hands-on Laser & Light Therapy Course
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) October 28, 2013 -- The American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) http://www.americanmedspa.org, in partnership with True U Laser, http://www.trueuesthetics.com/laser-training-0, has launched an accelerated Laser & Light Therapy Course designed to provide aspiring laser technicians with the basic knowledge needed to operate aesthetic lasers. The course, to be held November 8th and 9th at True Laser’s Chicago location, will provide students with hands-on training using live models in supervised medical setting.
The course, taught by True U Laser’s Terri Wojak and Physician Assistant Michelle Whitehall, will provide hands-on instruction on several different lasers, including IPL for Skin Rejuvenation, Laser Hair Removal, Nd:Yag for Vascular, and Fractionated Resurfacing.
“We are excited to offer this course,” said Alex Thiersch, Founder and Director of AmSpa. “There is a huge need for practical, hands-on training in this industry, and the only way to get that is to use live models in a supervised medical setting.”
Students will spend the first day learning the basics of laser physics and safety, and will also receive training on the regulations governing the use of lasers in Illinois. Training with live models will be held on day two, with students closely supervised by licensed Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses. All models are under the care and treatment of a licensed physician and consent to being treated by students.
“It is vital that students understand that the use of lasers is considered medical treatment,” said Thiersch. “As such, all students must be under the close supervision of a licensed medical professional, and all models must first be seen by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. By including physician assistants and registered nurses in the faculty, this course allows us to provide much needed, hands-on training while adhering to proper medical protocol.”
Terri Wojak has been educating laser technicians for over 10 years, and is well known in the industry for providing only the highest level of instruction. With the support of physician assistants and the regulatory expertise of AmSpa’s legal partners, students completing this accelerated course will receive a high level of practical instruction and a basic knowledge of the rules and regulations they will face once they enter the industry.
The course will be held at True U Laser’s educational center in Chicago’s Water Place Tower. AmSpa members receive $200 off. To register call (312) 440-9740 or email Terri Wojak at [email protected].
Additional courses to be held in February, April, May and July of 2014.
