The Arts Are Alive At Oak Hill Academy Boarding School
Mouth of Wilson, VA (PRWEB) September 26, 2016 -- Oak Hill Academy, a small, co-educational, college prep boarding school located in Mouth of Wilson, Virignia is pleased to announce the addition of Virginia artist, Dennis Wymer to its Arts Program. Wymer comes to Oak Hill Academy after teaching for seven years at Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. In addition to teaching, the VCU graduate has also taught privately and exhibited throughout the East Coast, most notably at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley alongside their very popular Picasso and Goya retrospective.
Wymer specializes as a painter and print maker. He received his BFA in 2016 in Art Education. In addition to teaching art, Wymer is also the sponsor of Oak Hill Academy’s newly created wrestling club. Wymer emphasizes that he “enjoys helping students realize that art does not have to be flawless, that perfection comes through the process and that through the process, students learn about themselves.“
This hiring further strengthens the art program at Oak Hill Academy which has recently been recognized by Virginia Living Magazine as a top Virginia High School in the area of innovation. The music program, under the direction of Jean Callison, was cited for its use of local Appalachian musicians and incorporation of traditional, or “old time,” heritage music into the school’s music curriculum.
