The Brain Aneurysm Foundation Founder Appointed Director of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Brain Aneurysm Institute

Hanover, MA (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- Christopher S. Ogilvy, M.D, co-founder of The Brain Aneurysm Foundation, has just been appointed to the position as Director of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Brain Aneurysm Institute. Deidre A. Buckley, N.P., co-founder and current board president of The Brain Aneurysm Foundation will join Dr. Ogilvy at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

In their new roles, Ogilvy and Buckley will collaborate with physicians in stroke neurology, neuroradiology, radiation therapy and anesthesia to deliver cutting-edge endovascular and surgical treatment of patients with brain aneurysms as well as brain and spine vascular problems.

Prior to this appointment, both Dr. Ogilvy and Nurse Buckley were in the Neurosurgery Department at Massachusetts General Hospital where Dr. Ogilvy was the Director of Operative Neurovascular Surgery and the Robert G. and A. Jean Ojemann Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School.

About 40% of the victims will die and of those surviving, only a third will recover without disabilities. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation hopes to improve these tragic statistics and save lives by funding vital research and increasing awareness. Each year about 30,000 people in the U.S. will suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm.
