The Business Architecture Guild and OMG are pleased to announce the next Business Architecture, Insurance Reference Model Building Workshop, to be held on September 13-14, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.According to Chalon Mullins, Principal Enterprise Architect, Kaiser Permanente:

Business architecture is widely accepted as a formal discipline within the insurance industry, yet a complete set of business architecture reference models is not available. The timing, therefore, is ideal for formalizing, maturing, and disseminating a set of insurance industry, business architecture reference models.
Industry reference models are one of the most widely requested aspects of business architecture. Businesses are seeking industry-specific capability maps, value maps, and other business architecture artifacts to jump start their business architecture efforts. In addition, certain industries have found that common views of their business ecosystems are advantageous for business-to-business engagement.
Workshop participants will gain key insights and hands on experience from these sessions. While the main goal is to allow attendees to fully immerse themselves in the capability and value mapping process, the workshop results will provide immediate and ongoing value.
The workshop will be broken into a general orientation session and multiple breakout sessions. Breakout sessions will focus on Property & Casualty Insurance and Health Insurance capability and value mapping. A third breakout session centered on Life & Retirement is pending, so keep an eye on the agenda. End of day discussions focus on reviewing the work of each team, sharing lessons learned, and discussing possible alignment ideas.
Workshop leaders represent various insurance industry sectors, with valuable business experience. If you are in a featured industry or a related industry, you will gain immediate benefit from this exercise and be able to incorporate the results into your company’s business architecture. If you work in a different industry, your will still gain valuable insights into the hands on session and collaborative nature of the work.

If you are relatively new to the discipline, please join us for the Monday afternoon primer on business architecture, with a focus on capability and value mapping. This primer, to be held September 12th from 2-5 pm, will prepare attendees new to business architecture with the basic skills needed to participate in the workshop. At the primer session, business architecture experts will expedite your understanding of business architecture so that attendees can enrich their experiences at the workshop on the 13-14th.
