The Canine Restoration Challenge - 14 Shelter dogs, 14 Dog Trainers, 14 Days
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- The Canine Restoration Challenge will take place at the Austin Pet Expo at the Palmer Events Center on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
The Austin Animal Center will be hosting The Canine Restoration Challenge on Friday, July 17th where selected trainers will be assigned a shelter dog from one of 9 shelters through random draw. Local animal shelters will choose dogs that are 9 months or older that have been left behind and passed over for adoption because of their physical characteristics or challenging behaviors. The Canine Restoration Challenge competition will take place 15 days later at the Austin Pet Expo Palmer Events Center on Saturday, August 1st.
In 2009 the Mustang Heritage Foundation (MHF), working in conjunction with the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) to promote adoption of homeless animals, created a unique event called the Extreme Mutt Makeover. The Extreme Mutt Makeover was a shelter dog training competition held in Texas, in association with the Extreme Mustang Makeover, to spotlight shelter dogs and get them adopted. The Extreme Mutt Makeover was held once a year from 2009-2012.
Understanding the brilliance of this unique event and the potential impact it could have on the public's perception of shelter dogs, Homeskooling 4 Dogs LLC launched a new project to promote the adoption of shelter dogs with The Canine Restoration Challenge in 2015.
Dogs that are in shelters are not just lacking a home, more importantly they are lacking a relationship. Our goal is to see them restored to a home and a relationship.
