The Catholic University of America Now Offers Master of Social Work Online
Washington, D.C (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- The Catholic University of America announced their Master of Social Work (MSW) is now available online. Offered by the school’s National Catholic School of Social Service (NCSSS), this online program builds its strength on Catholic’s leading, ground-based clinical social work program. Students are prepared to work with a wide variety of populations in various settings – both locally and globally.
The online MSW program prepares students for the Licensed Graduate Social Work Exam through a demanding curriculum that puts theory into action. “We’ve learned that working professionals simply do not have the time to pause their career and go back to school on campus to earn advanced social work credentials,” said Dean Will Rainford, NCSSS. “We’re offering a comprehensive online program that provides professionals with the real-world clinical knowledge needed to obtain a license in clinical social work practice or an advanced position in a variety of fields.”
Social workers with clinical experience are in great demand. Employment of social workers is expected to grow by 25 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations.* Through Catholic’s online MSW, students gain the knowledge to help qualify for a wide range of professional roles including:
• Mental health counseling/therapy
• Clinical work with at-risk families
• Clinical case management with homeless individuals
• Trauma treatment
• School social work
• Play therapy with children
• Community-based work with the elderly
A master’s degree in social work is typically required to work in health and school settings and is required for clinical work. Many public and private agencies require an advanced degree to work as a social worker-especially for supervisory or administrative positions.
