The Center for Health Affairs Shares Resource Illustrating Exchange Rates for Cuyahoga County
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management released a compilation of Health Insurance Marketplace net premium rates for all competitors in Cuyahoga County for 2014. The compilation was released in an effort to shed light on the exchange rates for Cuyahoga County for those who are interested in signing up for insurance through the new Marketplace and is intended for use during the insurance “shopping process.”
The table released Wednesday illustrates the 2014 exchange rates for Cuyahoga County after subsidies are applied for all the competitors in the county. The information was compiled using public data, including data from healthcare.gov and Kaiser Family Foundation’s calculator at kff.org.
In an effort to make it easy for the average person to compare insurance rates, the table was created to show only a single person’s rate comparison. The rates were then broken down by age, highlighting rates at age 27, 55 and 62, and by income, including rates from just above the Medicaid eligibility level up to the maximum to receive a subsidy. When interpreting the data in the table, it is important to remember:
•The last column contains the exchanges rates for all incomes at 400 percent of the federal poverty level and above.
•For two adults, the net premium should be doubled.
•For families with children, the premium will be more but the subsidy will also be greater.
