The Center School to Move to State-of-the-Art Facility in Franklin Township
Somerset, NJ (PRWEB) May 09, 2014 -- On Friday, May 2nd, The Center School took possession of their new property at 2 Riverview Drive in Franklin Township, after receiving zoning approval to allow for a school in the M-1 Zone District. The new location is conveniently located off of Route 287 and will be ready for a soft opening in July 2014. The grand opening is scheduled for the September 2014 academic year.
“Now begins the hard work of retrofitting this 80,000 square foot office building into a state-of-the-art learning center for students from kindergarten through high school and beyond,” said Executive Director/Principal Marcie Fiorentino. “It will be wonderful to have a permanent place to be – we have been in temporary quarters in Branchburg after a fire destroyed our original school in Highland Park.”
The Center School is a private, non-profit, state-accredited facility for bright, learning-disabled students. The Center School serves over 65 districts throughout New Jersey by providing a supportive educational environment in which each student may reach his or her potential for academic, emotional and physical health. A comprehensive learning experience is offered that allows each student to develop his or her personal best.
“We have created a team approach that includes carefully selected, dedicated staff who work in unison with the students, the parents/guardians, and the referring school district,” said Fiorentino. “This new facility will allow us to expand and offer more services to our students.”
Even before the expansion, The Center School offers Kindergarten, Elementary and High School Academics, vocational and college preparatory programs as well as specialized educational plans, occupational therapy and counseling services. Programs and extracurricular activities include Robotics, Performing Arts, Television Production, Intramurals, 4H Clubs, Bike and Computer Clubs.
“We are also developing a Work Readiness Transitions program for students who graduate from high school, but are not quite ready for the world of work,” said Fiorentino. “Part of this program will be in the new facility, and part will be in our second hand Thrift Shop located in Somerville.”
