The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh Selects New Chief Executive Officer
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) June 20, 2017 -- The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, an independent, nonprofit leader in pediatric rehabilitative services, education, and human services, is pleased to share the selection of Dr. Wendy Ann Pardee as President and CEO of the organization, effective August 7, 2017.
Pardee will succeed long-time President and CEO David Miles, who has served The Children’s Institute for 40 years in various roles, including as a teacher in the organization’s Day School, in management positions for inpatient and outpatient services including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, among others. Miles assumed the role of CEO in 2003.
“Under David’s leadership, The Children’s Institute achieved many operational and financial improvements, doubled the number of children and families served, and completed two comprehensive fundraising Campaigns totaling $42 million,” said John Thornburgh, Chair of The Children’s Institute’s Board of Directors. “We strongly believe Wendy is the right person to build on the tremendous accomplishments David achieved during his 14-year tenure as CEO and to lead the organization forward.”
Pardee comes to the organization with more than two decades of management experience in the healthcare, human services, and financial sectors. Most recently, she served as the CEO and President of Hattie Larlham, an Ohio-based nonprofit organization that provides medical, residential, recreational and work training services to 1,800 children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Previously, Pardee served for three years as the President and CEO of Skills of Central Pennsylvania, which serves individuals with intellectual disabilities. Pardee holds an MBA and a PhD from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her undergraduate degrees from the same university are in accounting and management of information systems.
The Children’s Institute’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Pardee after a robust search conducted in partnership with Nonprofit Talent, an executive search firm.

Pardee will join the organization on August 7 and will work with Miles to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
