The Chocolate Expo Returns to Long Island's Cradle of Aviation Museum
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- The Chocolate Expo, New York’s largest chocolate event, will return for the fourth consecutive year to Long Island’s Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, NY, on Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
At The Chocolate Expo, attendees will get to taste, purchase, celebrate and otherwise indulge in delicious gourmet chocolates, baked goods, specialty foods, gelato, cheeses, wines and much more from over 75 local and regional vendors, while touring one of the largest air and space museums in the world.
Participating chocolatiers include Carousel Sweets, Chocolate Works, Dove Chocolate Discoveries, Isn’t It Sweet, Mother Myrick’s Confectionery, North Fork Chocolates, Oliver Kita Chocolates, Rescue Chocolate, Spreading Joy, Teacher’s Recipe Fudge and The Pretzel Princess, among others. While many vendors now offer healthy dark chocolate choices, Raw Chocolate Love and Seed Born Foods are two of several vendors whose complete focus is on chocolate products that offer nutritional benefits to consumers. Dragon’s Nest Bake Baked Goods and Darcy’s Delights similarly focus on gluten-free baked goods and healthy baked specialty loaf breads, respectively, to meet special dietary needs and preferences.
Other popular participants at The Chocolate Expo include Auntie El’s, Aunt Nenee’s, Breezie Maples Farm, Custo Cookie, Dutch Desserts, Jessy’s Pastries, Screme Gelato, Saratoga Crackers, Scuteri’s Cannoli Connection, TerraNut, The Peanut Principle, Whipped-Up, Wild Lizzy’s and Yona’s Gourmet Delights.
New vendors for 2015 include Perriwinkles at Rhinebeck with chocolate cake balls, Take a Break & I’ll Bake with southern-style desserts and The Challah Fairy with chocolate chip Challah breads.
Unusual items at The Chocolate Expo will range from Bacon Bites’ chocolate-covered bacon to chocolate salad dressings from JD Gourmet to chocolate-scented bath products from The RAD Soap Company.
For ready-to-eat treats, Aurora Gourmet will again have their chocolate fountains flowing, while Long Island’s own Crazy Crepe Cafe will be making yummy chocolate crepes and Pika’s Farm Table will be serving authentic Belgian-style waffles dipped in a choice of white, dark or milk chocolate. An Artistic Taste, another newcomer to The Chocolate Expo, will be featuring its hugely popular Brussels sprouts infused with chocolate.
Always a major highlight of The Chocolate Expo, wine tastings and sales will be offered by Adirondack Winery, Americana Vineyards, Pazdar Winery and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery.
Chocolate demonstrations will be conducted in the Cradle of Aviation’s Giant Dome Theater by celebrity chefs Barret Beyer (Hell’s Kitchen Season 11 and Kitchen Casino), Larry Rosenberg (author of The Original Bacon Cookbook and a contributor to Martha Stewart’s “Wedding Book”) and Tony Albanese (Cake Boss Season 1 and Cupcake Wars) beginning at 11am and continuing throughout the day until the last session ends at 6:00pm. Writer Debbie Prinz, a well-known rabbi and author of "On the Chocolate Trail: A Delicious Adventure Connecting Jews, Religions, History, Travel, Rituals and Recipes to the Magic of Cacao," will share her insights as to what makes chocolate so special. Rabbi Prinz’ presentations will take place on the second floor of the Museum’s atrium main lobby beginning at 11:30am and 1:00pm.
“Not only does The Chocolate Expo provide a great time for attendees, it also helps to support an outstanding educational institution right here on Long Island,” said Andy Parton, Executive Director of the Cradle of Aviation Museum. “And after a really harsh winter, I think people are very anxious to get out of their homes and indulge a little, so it’s perfect timing for The Chocolate Expo,” he added.
Admission to The Chocolate Expo is only $15/adult and $10/child (ages 2-12). Children under 2 years of age are free. Tickets include admission to the Cradle of Aviation’s fascinating exhibits (regularly $14/adults and $12/children ages 2-12) and admission to the Nassau County Firefighters Museum (regularly $5/adults and $4/children).
Tickets are available online from the Cradle of Aviation Museum, as well as via the Museum’s Box Office during regular business hours. Tickets can also be purchased directly on the day of the expo itself. Cash, credit and debit cards are accepted by the Museum for ticket purchases.
In partnership with Long Island Cares, a Food Drive will take place on the day of The Chocolate Expo at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Everyone is asked to bring non-perishable food items for the Harry Chapin Food Bank, and it is not necessary to be a Chocolate Expo attendee to participate in the Food Drive since Long Island Cares donation bins will be located right outside the front of the Cradle of Aviation Museum for drop-off purposes.
