The Clare Athletic Club In Chicago Celebrates Its First Anniversary At The Same Time Of Year When New Year's Resolutions Are Being Made
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 30, 2014 -- The timing is perfect, as The Clare Athletic Club celebrates its first anniversary at the same time of year when New Year’s resolutions are being made. “We’re looking forward to residents keeping their resolutions by working out with us. As members of The Clare Athletic Club, residents can enjoy the many benefits to help lead a healthy and happy lifestyle,” said Melissa Cusick, manager of the club.
The Clare Athletic Club is located on the 9th floor of the Gold Coast Life Care high-rise retirement community. A year ago, a complete renovation of The Clare Athletic Club was completed, providing residents with the latest in senior-friendly equipment, professional instruction, personal training, and round the clock hours. Since it’s reopened, The Clare Athletic Club sees more than 650 resident visits per month.
The Clare Athletic Club was designed to offer an optimal multidisciplinary approach of wellness, fitness and overall health. “Fitness and wellness are an integral part of the culture here at The Clare. They’re essential to staying independent and vibrant as residents age, and have a direct effect on their quality of life,” said Cusick. “Our goal is to provide great fitness and wellness opportunities for all of our residents, on site.”
In preparation for the holiday season, Cusick introduced the Maintain Not Gain Program; designed to help residents “beat the holiday bulge.” Using a team approach, the program was developed for residents to challenge each other to maintain their weight throughout the holiday season.
In addition to state-of-the-art equipment on which residents can work out individually, The Clare Athletic Club holds more than a dozen weekly group classes including fusion and cardio strengthening, balance, circuit, chair-based, pool and pool walking.
Additional services available at The Clare Athletic Club include exercise consultation, personal training, balance and fitness testing, health screenings, wellness programs, educational presentations, pool programming and more. “We have a strong focus on balance, flexibility, strength training, cardio/aerobic and range of motion,” Cusick said. “There’s really something for everyone at The Clare.”
The Clare Athletic Club is managed by the National Institute for Fitness and Sports (NIFS), a leader in the expanding field of active aging. “We work with more than a dozen senior communities across the United States. That’s a significant advantage for us as it gives us feedback on what has or hasn’t worked well across the country with residents similar to those living at The Clare,” Cusick said.
The Clare at Rush and Pearson is a Life Care retirement community in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast with incomparable lifestyle, amenities and the financial stability only a debt-free community can offer.
