The Coin Laundry Association Releases Demographic Analysis & Site Selection Whitepaper
Oakbrook Terrace, IL (PRWEB) January 16, 2014 -- “Location. Location. Location.” – It’s often touted as one of the biggest keys to success for local businesses – and for the self-service laundry industry, research supports that claim.
According to a laundry customer survey performed by Readex, Inc., a nationally recognized independent research company, 85 percent of laundromat users said that a laundromat’s proximity to their home would influence their decision about which one to use, with 65 percent of users saying they lived within 2 miles of a laundromat.
But there are many additional components that help to make up a great laundromat location, which is why the Coin Laundry Association (CLA) today released its latest whitepaper, Demographic Analysis & Site Selection for Self-Service Laundries. This paper provides a closer look at what demographic data and site-selection criteria laundry owners should focus on when considering a location for a self-service laundry.
The whitepaper is part of the CLA’s Gold Book Research Series and is available exclusively to the association’s members. When combined with a custom demographic report, consultation with a professional distributor and industry research, the whitepaper will help laundromat investors understand how to identify good locations for a self-service laundry facility.
“Every market is different, so there is a lot of research and strategy involved in identifying the right location for a self-service laundry,” explains CLA President and CEO Brian Wallace. “One of the missions of the association is to help industry professionals make strong business decisions through education and research – this whitepaper will help our members do just that.”
And for entrepreneurs considering an investment in the self-service laundry industry, Wallace urges them to do a lot of research up front.
“I've seen many great laundromats fail because of a poor location or a oversaturated market,” he notes. “I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to do a thorough demographic analysis first – it’s much better to spend a few hundred dollars on research and education up front than hundreds of thousands later.”
