The Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs Announces 2017-2018 Cohorts for Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and New York City
Los Angeles, CA; New York City, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; San Francisco, CA; St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 22, 2017 -- The Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs uses the community as a classroom to train the next generation of change makers. Coro develops the skills, knowledge and networks to enable Fellows to forge connections and lead across the nonprofit, business and government sectors. Today’s complex issues and diverse communities present evolving challenges and opportunities, creating a need for skilled, aware leaders.
Starting in Fall 2017, 60 competitively selected applicants will become part of cohorts of 12 participants in five U.S. cities. Ranging in age from 22 to 35, the new cohorts represent a spectrum of communities, interests, ideologies, and experiences.
The Princeton Review has said of Coro: “Every group has its ultimate challenge, an experience that defines those who participate as the most talented in their field. Track-and-field enthusiasts have the decathlon. Whiz kids have the Odyssey of the Mind competition. Fitness freaks have the IronMan Triathlon. And aspiring public servants have the Coro Fellows Program.”
The Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs is a full-time, nine-month program featuring field placements in different sectors, immersive experiences in the community, and group process skills development. For more information about the program, visit: http://www.corofellowship.org

Coro is a non-profit, non-partisan educational institute supported by alumni, other individuals, corporations, and foundations. Coro began in San Francisco in 1942 to train emerging leaders in the skills necessary to assure that our democratic system of government could more effectively meet the needs of its citizens. Since its founding, Coro has grown to include Coro programs in five cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles (1957), St. Louis (1972), New York (1980) and Pittsburgh (1999). More than 400 participants a year go through a variety of Coro programs nationwide. At least 10,000 program alumni are currently serving as leaders in local, regional and national/global businesses, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and elected public office. The United States Senate alone includes three Coro alumni including Dianne Feinstein (CA), Tim Kaine (VA) and Michael Bennet (CO).
