The 'Demolition' of Workers’ Compensation and Injured Workers’ Rights on The American Law Journal television program, Video Online Now
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) December 31, 2015 -- Attorneys on the television program The American Law Journal said workers compensation programs may be turning 100 years old, but if recent investigations by ProPublica and NPR are accurate, workers’ compensation has little to celebrate. While corporations and states slash benefits, a new ‘opt out’ movement has unions, trial lawyers and insurance companies concerned.
Video is online now of The American Law Journal's examination "Workers’ Comp at 100: Trouble Ahead?” Joining attorney host Christopher Naughton are compensation claimant’s attorney George Badey of Badey Sloan & DiGenova, respondent's counsel Anthony Salvino of White & Williams and longtime Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Judge the Hon. Joseph Hakun.
The program examines the overall declining benefits for injured workers across the country including the “value” of lost or damaged “body parts,” third party settlements and medical benefits.
In an opening feature report The Legal Intelligencer newspaper's Senior Staff Writer Gina Passarella examined the history of workers’ comp, spearheaded by President Theodore Roosevelt, to today’s controversial corporate “opt out” policies taking root in some states. Claimants’ attorneys Jeffrey Gross of Batt & Gross, Joseph Hutteman of Martin Law and former Workers’ Comp Judge Geoffrey Dlin of Krasno, Krasno & Onwudinjo comments as do respondents’ attorneys Laurie Carroll of Naulty, Scaricamazza & McDevitt and Paul Fires of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby.
