The Edmonton Chante Festival Returns to Alberta Oct. 1-5
Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- The sixth annual Edmonton Chante Festival, featuring French World music and folk music, will be presented in well-known venues on and near Whyte Avenue in Edmonton Oct. 1-5, and all but the Youth Show and the Closing Show are free of charge. The Closing Show, featuring African percussionist Kattam, the Quebec-based rock fold band Kodiak, and pop singer Gardy Fury, will be Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the UniTheatre, La Cite francophone, 8627 Marie-Ann Gaboury in Edmonton; tickets are $20 and a limited quantity are available online at edmontonchante2013.brownpapertickets.com and in-person at Le Carrefour Bookstore at La Cite francophone.
The five-night festival, presented by Best Western Cedar Park Inn, brings some of the country’s best francophone talent to Edmonton stages. Seventeen French-speaking Canadian artists will entertain audiences with their diverse music and unique talents. Presented by the ACFA régionale d’Edmonton, the festival is known for bringing some of the country’s best French-language World and folk performers to Alberta. Oct. 1: Paul Cournoyer, Post Script, Daniel Gervais, live from Kasbar.
Oct. 2: Mamselle Ruiz, Youssou Seck, La Luna De Santiago, live from Copa Cabana.
Oct. 3: Dupuis, Anique Granger, Karaoké-3D, live from Pourhouse.
Oct. 4: Justin Blais, Andréanne A. Malette, Tremblay, Motel 72, live from Empress Ale House.
Oct. 5: Carmen Campagne, Kattam, Kodiak, Gardy Fury, live from l’UniThéâtre de La Cité francophone.
For the closing show on Oct. 5, percussionist Kattam will warm up the crowd by waking the beauty of the African continent with rhythm, songs and dances. A musical performance by the Quebec-based Kodiak will offer festival-goers a performance influenced by rock, folk and blues roots. Pop singer Gardy Fury got discovered with Hairspray The Musical, presented this summer in Montreal. Gifted with an incredible talent onstage, the author-composer from Quebec will sing about emancipation, disillusion and the different traps of the X and Y generations.
The Edmonton Chante Festival is selling tickets online as well as in-person to, due to popular demand for online sales. Brown Paper Tickets is a Not-Just-for-Profit ticketing company, which makes building communities a part of its business model, donating five percent of profits from each ticket sale to nonprofits in the category of the ticket-buyer’s choice.
