Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) December 08, 2016 -- Downtown Vancouver received a visit from some very busy elves. Just in time for Christmas, the space outside Vancouver’s Bentall Centre has been transformed into a holiday wonderland featuring a Giant 30’ tall sequoia tree decked out from top to bottom in glittering ornaments. But who are the elves responsible for this beauty?
Meet Dekra-Lite. They’ve been selling Christmas since 1989, and have grown into one of the premiere holiday display companies in Canada. The Giant sequoia tree is just one of the company’s hundreds of holiday features. As are every tree decorated with Dekralite mini lights and strands at the Niagara parks Winter Festival, Ontario’s Christmas on Euclid Experience, Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens in Lethbridge and countless Christmas displays at shopping malls and public spaces across the nation. There’s a good chance you’ve been marveling at Dekra-Lite’s work for years, but just never knew it.
The numbers behind their work are sheerly staggering - three decked-out Christmas trees at the Oakridge Malls in Vancouver holds nearly 11500 lights and 5000 ornaments. Oh, and the whole thing is programmed to dance in sync with holiday music. This season, their crews handled dozens and dozens of such installations, Just like you will see at the new Edmonton Oilers Rogers Place involving 4 Kms worth of garland and dozens of trees decorating their facility.
While the winter wonderland displays appear quickly, staging each venue is planned months in advance, Dekra-Lite President Davide Fantillo said, some start planning for the holidays as much as a year in advance. Many of the mall's own their decorations and add to holiday inventories each year.
So, how much does all this cost? Dekra-Lite doesn’t disclose how much customers spend on their decorations, but prices on its website range from the low-thousands, say for a its Light Motifs, to tens of thousands of dollars for a single tree, decorations included.
Fantillo said that while some clients go small, others create million-dollar programs.
Dekra-Lite’s elaborate setups take only hours to install - which is why it may seem like Vancouver’s tree appeared virtually overnight. But what goes up must come down! After the holiday season, each display installation must be broken down, organized, and stored away until the following year. So be sure to get out to the many sites this month to take it all in, before it’s gone!
