The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany to Unveil Rosalind Franklin Sculpture
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- The Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany is proud to announce their latest sculpture, a larger than life bronze of Rosalind Franklin. The sculpture will be unveiled May 29th, in front of The Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, in North Chicago, IL. The figure is set in a granite base, and will be installed on the West side of campus.
Rosalind Franklin was a renowned female scientist, a specialized biophysicist and X-ray crystallographer. Her contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA helped her co-workers understand how genetic information is passed from parents to their offspring. Rosalind Franklin was accomplished in her field and has been recently recognized worldwide for her discoveries. Her data and photographs of DNA led to immeasurable progress in science.
The President of the University, Dr. Michael Welch, was the driving force in making this installation come to fruition, with the help of Julie's agent, Kathleen Van Ella (Portraits Chicago) who made the introduction. Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is a non-profit, private graduate school located in North Chicago, Illinois. It has 2,000 students and five schools--the Chicago Medical School, the College of Health Professions, the College of Pharmacy, the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine.
“It was truly an honor to sculpt Rosalind Franklin and have her immortalized in bronze. It is rare that women get immortalized in sculpture; mostly men are recognized for their accomplishments and become icons in perpetuity for the public to appreciate. I am delighted that I could be part of the effort to contribute to the recognition of an outstanding and accomplished female leader,” said Julie Rotblatt-Amrany, artist and co-founder of the Fine Art Studio.
