Finger Lakes, NY (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 -- Dr. Daniel Alexander and the Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center team is pleased to announce the grand opening of our region’s first Open MRI.

Unlike a standard MRI, which is a closed, confined and often uncomfortable space for many patients, an Open MRI allows patients to be tested in an open and comfortable position. Patients can sit or lie down between the magnets that perform the imaging without having to be placed in a traditional, narrow tube.

In addition to an Open MRI, Open MRI of the Finger Lakes will also house a new low dose Computer Axial Tomography (CAT) Scan Unit as well as a state of the art Bone Dexa scanner.

The public is invited to the unveiling this Thursday, Dec 12th from 5-7pm. The center is located at 875 Pre-Emption Road in Geneva. Refreshments will be served.

The Majority of the profits from the new open MRI will be donated to the Boy’s and Girl’s clubs of Geneva and the new “Seneca Babcock Community Center” built in Dr. Alexander’s old neighborhood, which was in need of a safe place for inner city youth.

Dr. Daniel Alexander is the owner of Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center. He was born and raised in Buffalo and now lives with his wife Gail and their four children in Canandaigua. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and orthopedic training Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He specializes in orthopedic sports surgery including arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle, as well as rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, joint replacement and orthopedic trauma.

He is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopedics Surgeons, provides both emergency care and elective surgery at Newark Wayne Community Hospital and recently Newark-Wayne Hospital named their E.R. department after him because of the gift of his foundation, The Dr. Daniel Alexander Family Foundation, to the hospital in excess of $500,000.
