The First Tee of Oakland Launches GolfAthon Using New VIE Connect™ Competition & Fundraising Technology
Portland, OR (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- The First Tee of Oakland, Oakland, CA, has announced their decision to utilize VIE Sports Inc.’s recently launched, gamified social (giving) platform - VIE Connect™ to materially enhance their Golf for Our Future event, at the Metropolitan Golf Links (Metro), their home course, located in Oakland, CA. Proceeds from this event benefit The First Tee of Oakland to help youth claim a bright future.
Through utilization of VIE’s proprietary Athon technology, combining competition and Athon-type pledging, this year’s Golf for Our Future event is from January 27th through February 16th. Golfers participate by playing at Metro on any day at anytime within the set timeframe. Golfers play, post scores and seek donation pledges from friends and family to support The First Tee of Oakland. Scores are adjusted for course difficulty and the golfer’s course handicap. A Leaderboard presents the competition and fundraising results crowning a Low Net VIE score champion and Top-Fundraiser champion. The VIE Connect™ platform and proprietary GolfAthon technology has facilitated The First Tee of Oakland to have an outreach to all golfers who play Metro as the event is not limited to one specific day and time. The Golf for Our Future fundraising event will empower The First Tee of Oakland to dramatically increase the number of participants, thus the funds raised for this worthy cause.
The First Tee of Oakland GolfAthon event is sponsored by the Metropolitan Golf Links, MGM Resorts International and Walters Golf of Las Vegas. Champions win a Las Vegas Golf Vacation for two, and other prizes are awarded, including complimentary Metro golf rounds, cart use and range balls.
