The Fosters' Cierra Ramirez Talks about Her Character's Quinceanera and How Working with Terri Polo and Sherri Saum Have Improved Her Work as an Actress on AfterBuzz TV
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- ABC Family's Cierra Ramirez recently made an appearance on AfterBuzz TV's The Fosters aftershow. In her appearance, Ramirez talks about Mariana's feelings throughout her Quinceanera, how working with Terri Poko and Sherri Saum have improved her work as an actress, and her character's relationship with her mother in The Fosters.
On Mariana's feelings throughout her Quniceanera:
Ramirez says, "I do find it very relatable. It goes along with the whole idea of Mariana and wanting to find her identity. With this Quinceanera, she is finding herself and coming into herself. This is a very traditional party, but of course her family is not very traditional, so she is kind of iffy about it, but she does love her Moms so much. You can see that at the end of the episode. She is full of regrets and realizes that her non-traditional family is what she loves."
On how working with Terri Polo and Sherri Saum have improved her work as an actress:
Ramirez says, "They tend to improvise a lot. It's not something that I've been really big on because I don't think I'm creative in that sense, but they've really helped a lot. They actually helped us with getting into character and becoming our characters. We would do lots of different activities and improvising games that really help shape how I approached the character, Mariana. Acting with them is such a breeze. I can really feed off of them so that's really nice... We're on our tenth episode, and it feels like our hundredth...it's amazing on and off set, and it's a good reason to wake up in the morning."
On her character's relationship with her mother:
Ramirez says, "She is her mother but as far as we know, she hasn't been there for her whole life. She is still a stranger. I don't know. The fact that she took all that money and just walked away. I would have stopped her. I don't know. I mean, what do you do in that situation?"
On Madisen Beaty's talent at pulling off a mean persona:
Ramirez says, "I have to say, [Talya] is probably one of my favorite characters because of the fact [she's mean]. [Madisen] is the sweetest person I've ever met in my entire life, so the fact that she can play such a hateful character; that's how you know she's good."
Cierra Ramirez on not having her own Quinceanera:
Ramirez says, "I actually chose a shopping spree instead, believe it or not. My mindset was why not, it's only going to happen for one night and then it would be over, but I get to wear the clothes forever."
On her upcoming music career:
Ramirez says, "I am currently working on an album that I am writing...I grew up listening to Patsy Cline, Etta James, and I love soul, but I love everything that you hear on the radio, too. I take inspiration from Amy Winehouse and Rihanna. I love me some Rhi Rhi! I want to put them all in a blender and come up with something."
