The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Collaborates with New Mexico Artists on Exclusive Gift Items
Santa Fe, New Mexico (PRWEB) October 21, 2016 -- The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is pleased to announce it is featuring unique and exclusive items made by New Mexico artists available for purchase in both the Museum Store and online.
This year’s featured items include a beaded cuff produced by Etkie. The Linea Wide Beaded Cuff is inspired by the watercolors in the Far Wide Texas installation. The cuff combines traditional Navajo hand-beaded loom work with a strikingly modern design. Etkie is a New Mexico-based beaded jewelry company empowering Native American artisans to earn a living wage while preserving their cultural and artistic heritage. The beaded cuff is available online and in the Museum gift store for $250.
The Georgia O’Keeffe: Watercolors 1916-1918 catalog, produced in collaboration with Radius Books and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, reproduces in full-scale color nearly 50 watercolors the artist painted in the years she spent living in Canyon, Texas. Because O’Keeffe’s watercolors are fragile and light sensitive, they are rarely shown; the catalog provides a lasting reference for lovers of O’Keeffe’s watercolors and is priced at $60.
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s unisex skull t-shirt, designed by local illustrator Christine Dallorso Kortz, features a southwestern cow skull drawing on a black cotton-poly blend T-shirt and is available for $22.
Hand-woven Chimayo ties are another highlight in this year’s Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s gift collection. Created by artisan, Susan Meredith, in the tradition of northern New Mexico weaving, they bring elements of the colors and landscapes of the region and are priced between $80 and $85.
Finally, shoppers searching for stocking stuffers or Hanukah presents are invited to check out the Museum’s O’Keeffe-inspired notecards, journals, magnet sets, pens and mugs; all priced between $10 and $20.

Currently on view at the Museum, A Great American Artist, A Great American Story: a new series of galleries organized by theme to offer a deeper understanding of O’Keeffe’s art, life, and times. Explore a remarkable American story through O’Keeffe’s art, art materials, and personal possessions, along with photographs and documents from her life. The Museum frequently features special installations drawing upon the strength of its collections, along with occasional special loans. From time to time, the contents of the galleries will change as new objects go on view and special projects and installations are presented, through 2017.
