The Godfrey Hotel Introduces Chicago’s Largest Indoor/Outdoor Rooftop Lounge I|O
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- The Godfrey Hotel Chicago (127 West Huron Street) announces today the food and beverage concept I|O, a 10,000 square-foot urban roofscape located in the epicenter of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, will open in February 2014. With its captivating southern Chicago skyline views from its fourth floor perch at The Godfrey Hotel, I|O will serve as the largest indoor/outdoor, all-season rooftop lounge and bar in Chicago.
At I|O, warm, intimate interior spaces give way to Chicago’s open skies under a state-of-the art roof that allows for unobstructed views of the city.
"While other retractable rooftops require support beams that can obstruct views, I|O’s unique design retracts from the top and corner supports, allowing guests to witness Chicago’s extraordinary panorama," says Matthew McCahill, food and beverage director at The Godfrey Hotel.
I|O offers two full-service bars and lounge seating at the roofscape’s two-level fire pit, which will also serve as a beacon to guests above bustling LaSalle Street. In addition to the fire pit, I|O’s water wall feature, open-air seating, and modern stingray-inspired cabana canopies provide nods to the elements. A customizable LED video wall, free WiFi, a green room for talent, and superior sound and lighting system make I|O the perfect venue for DJs, live music performances and private events.
I|O’s menu will feature tasteful preparations of Chicago’s favorite foods while the beverage program will introduce a new spin on chef-inspired cocktails. Additional programming will continue to surprise and delight guests during the week and the weekend, including brunch, sets with sought-after DJs, and more.
"The inside and outside environments offer something for everyone. Guests can enjoy happy hour with friends at communal tables or relax in one of the cabana lounge areas while enjoying bites and signature cocktails," adds McCahill.
I|O will also serve as the premier destination in River North for private events with more than 1,500 square feet of space perfect for everything from corporate daytime meetings to wedding receptions. An intimate, interior VIP room will accommodate up to 36 guests for a private reception, while a separate indoor event space, Truss, will accommodate up to 100 seated guests or 150 standing guests. Portico, an exterior space on the eastern side of the roofscape, will offer outdoor meeting and event capabilities. When combined, the exterior and interior spaces will accommodate weddings and private events for up to 300 guests.
