Owings Mills, MD (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- The Gordon Center for Performing Arts presents greatest bluegrass harmonics of the 20th century Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 8:00pm, when the internationally renowned Gibson Brothers perform.
The New York Times has called Leigh and Eric Gibson “bluegrass superstars,” representing sibling harmony at its finest.
Since childhood, Eric and Leigh Gibson’s guiding stars have been songs recorded by music’s greatest brother duos: the Monroes, the Louvins, and the Everlys, whose close harmonies have captivated listeners for decades.
Last February 24, 2015, the Gibson Brothers released Brotherhood, a salute to those influential groups.
Raised on a dairy farm near Ellenburg Depot, New York, the two started playing an old banjo and guitar their father had. Soon they were performing their music in church.
Brotherhood (Rounder Records), covers the songs of legendary brother duos like Jim & Jesse, the Louvins, the Everly Brothers, and more. Brotherhood is the Gibsons’ twelfth album since their 1993 debut, Underneath a Harvest Moon.
According to the iconic cultural review PopMatters "Eric and Leigh Gibson might have, pound-for-pound, the most impeccably fine-sounding traditional bluegrass band on the contemporary scene …. instrumentally the group plays with unmatched alacrity and taste."
Voted 2013 Entertainers of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards for the second year in a row, the group also won the Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year, and Eric Gibson was named Songwriter of the Year.
The Gibson Brothers’ band includes: Eric Gibson (banjo), Leigh Gibson (guitar), Mike Barber (bass), Clayton Campbell (fiddle), and Jesse Brock (mandolin).
