The Green Bay Packers Join the HearStrong Foundation to Honor Former Packer Blaise Winter at Lambeau Field
Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- A franchise used to celebrating championship athletes on the Frozen Tundra, The Green Bay Packers recently helped honor a different type of champion.
On December 9th in the Lambeau Field Atrium, Mike Murphy, president of the Green Bay Packers, assisted the HearStrong Foundation in honoring former Packer Blaise Winter as a HearStrong Champion.
The foundation, a non-profit organization, works to further hearing loss awareness by honoring those who have overcome hearing loss with the assistance of hearing solutions, like hearing aids, to achieve their goals and inspire others to do the same. These individuals are known as HearStrong Champions.
The HearStrong Foundation is sponsored by EarQ, a nationwide network of hearing healthcare providers.
Blaise first experienced hearing loss as a child, possibly the result of several tumors in his ears when he was born. Though he didn’t utilize hearing devices until he began his professional football career in 1984, Blaise developed an extremely positive attitude and had the determination to overcome numerous health and personal challenges to succeed academically, athletically and professionally.
After being named MVP of the Syracuse University football team in 1983, Blaise achieved his dream of playing professionally. During his 11-year career, Blaise played with the Indianapolis Colts, the San Diego Chargers and the Green Bay Packers.
“I have never been held up from any (hearing) loss and will not be,” said Blaise. “I have been able to do all the things I dream.”
