36th Annual Halloween Carnival at Kiwanis Park
Tempe’s Annual Halloween Carnival at Kiwanis Park will entertain the entire family from toddlers to teens on Saturday, October 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. This free event features family-friendly carnival games, live entertainment, face painting, food booths, train rides, inflatables, a toddler play area and more. Attendees are invited to come dressed up in their favorite costume for the annual Halloween costume contest to win one of many prizes. Tickets for attractions, games and food booths can be purchased for 25 cents each.
Boo! at the Zoo
The Phoenix Zoo is gearing up for Halloween with Boo! at the Zoo, a family favorite event for over 20 years, October 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Perfect for families, kids can enjoy Radio Disney, crafts, games and prizes at Harmony Farm. After exploring the Zoo looking for “masked mammals” in the special scavenger hunt, families can dance at the “mask-querade” ball inside the windmill house with costumed characters from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Between the music, dancing and games, kids will need to save time for the Halloween treats too!
Howl-O-Ween
For ghoulish good time, Howl-O-Ween at the Phoenix Zoo is perfect for kids ages 8 and up, offering activities that cater to both the brave and the not so brave, October 25 and 26 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Activities will be broken down into 3 Scare Levels, Scare Level 1 being the least scary and Scare Level 3 being the scariest. Scare Level 1 will include the Creatures of the Night Animal Show, Magic Shows and a Halloween Dance Party. Scare Level 2 activities feature Fields of Fear, Terror of the Yeti and Vampire Manor. Scare seekers will love the Camp Horror Story Time Train Ride, Desert of the Dead, Mama Brown’s Dead and Breakfast and Sounds of the Dead in Scare Level 3. But beware, Level 3 is not for the faint of heart and promises to terrify even the bravest of souls. The Zoo is also hosting overnight activities at the Howl-O-Ween Night Camp and Twilight Camp for those looking for even more Halloween adventures.
The Great Pumpkin Festival
Pick out the perfect pumpkin at the Desert Botanical Garden’s Great Pumpkin Festival, October 17-20. Festival goers can take a hayride out to the Garden’s pumpkin patch, where children 12 and under can choose their own free pumpkin. Festival activities also include exploring the Amazing Hay Bale Maze, visiting with farm animals in the petting zoo, enjoying lively country western entertainment, playing carnival style games and much more. Entrance to the pumpkin festival is included with paid Garden admission. Festival hours on Thursday and Friday are 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
