The haudenschild Garage Announces Its Documentary Short Triples/Trillizos as Official Selection in International Film Festivals
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- The haudenschild Garage is pleased to announce that its documentary short, Triples/Trillizos (Triple/Triplets), is an Official Selection at the following four International Film Festivals: New Orleans Film Festival (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA), the LA Femme International Film Festival (Los Angeles, California, USA), Oaxaca Filmfest (Oaxaca, Mexico) and the CORTÓPOLIS Film Festival (Buenos Aires, Argentina). All screenings will take place in October 2014.
Triples/Trillizos is a participatory documentary that investigates the individual imaginary of Lorenzo, Leonel, and Luis Torres Pacheco, gifted sixteen-year-old triplets that from birth have shared everything—home, physical characteristics, educational aspirations, and creative activities. Living with their parents and two older brothers in a tidy two-room informal house in Tijuana, Mexico, theirs is a story of rare genetic circumstances that is formed with discipline and resolve and they find alternatives to the limited opportunities available in conditions of structural poverty.
Triples/Trillizos aims to bring deserved attention to these exceptional adolescents, while also opening up a space for alterity in the triplets’ lives, one that points to a growing awareness of their differences rather than their similarities. Who are Lorenzo, Leonel and Luis as individuals, separate from their identity as one being with three iterations? Gifted painters, outstanding students, and devoted offspring, the triplets have together created a space where they complete each other in an uncanny way. Easy intimacy and companionship is a mark of the idiosyncratic experience of being, in some ways, one identity divided amongst three bodies, as they often speak of each other as “clones.” As Lorenzo and Leonel both explain, being a triplet is “like having two people that are the same as me.”
