The Henry Ford Honors 150th Anniversary of Lincoln’s Assassination with Special Guest Doris Kearns Goodwin

(PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- The Henry Ford will host Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Doris Kearns Goodwin on April 13, 2015 for a special evening event honoring the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s assassination inside Anderson Theater. In remembrance of President Lincoln’s legacy, the chair in which he was sitting in on that fateful day in Ford’s Theatre will be taken out of its sealed case for the first time in decades for closer viewing.
Tickets for Lincoln Legacy: An Evening with Doris Kearns Goodwin start at $50 for general balcony stadium seating and $75 for main floor seating. Tickets for the VIP reserved seating are $150 and include the President’s pre-reception with Kearns Goodwin and a copy of her book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. Members receive discount pricing on general admission seating.
Kearns Goodwin is a Pulitzer Prize-winner, former presidential advisor and author of six best-selling books, including Team of Rivals, on which Steven Spielberg based his Academy Award-winning film, Lincoln. More than a commemoration of Lincoln’s death, her talk will show how the experiences faced by Lincoln, one of our most unlikely presidents, carry so much relevance to Americans even to this day. The evening will also include a book signing immediately following the lecture.
In addition to the April 13 lecture, Henry Ford Museum will waive admission courtesy of Target, in memory of the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s assassination on April 15. Guests will get to experience a rare moment on the museum floor as the chair in which Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot will be removed from its glass enclosure and placed in a special display for a closer look. Special programming will also take place throughout the day. Guests in attendance will receive a souvenir program including a map designating Lincoln-related artifacts on exhibit inside the museum.
