The Heritage of Hannah Neil Adds Residential Treatment Services For At-Risk Youth To Its Offerings
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) October 17, 2016 -- Eastway Behavioral Healthcare, one of the largest and most comprehensive not-for-profit organizations serving Ohio residents struggling with mental illness and substance abuse, has expanded the innovative services it offers youth and their families at The Heritage of Hannah Neil Program. Residential treatment services for at-risk elementary students have been added to the outpatient and therapeutic day treatment services already available at the 36,000 square foot complex at 301 Obetz Road in Franklin County.
Eastway Behavioral Healthcare, the largest provider of its kind in Montgomery County, purchased the 22-acre property late last year. Eastway’s continuum of care in Franklin County now includes in-home and outpatient services, day treatment and residential options, and educational services for elementary students working to overcome the barriers that limit successful assimilation into neighborhood schools and the community.
“Building on key principles of safety, trustworthiness and empowerment, our programs are welcoming, innovative and collaborative, and perhaps most importantly, truly needed throughout the community,” said John Strahm, Eastway’s CEO. “Eastway began offering outpatient services at the complex about eight months ago. Today, 112 children and family members currently receive services, with that number growing daily. “
A tremendous amount of work has been done on the building, which stood vacant for two years. Eastway will invest $1 million dollars to create a unique environment that encourages and enhances healing. The day treatment consists of four brightly decorated classrooms, with an art room, music center, and indoor gymnasium. The residential section of the building can accommodate 40 boys and girls, ages 5-12. Great care has been taken with this area as well to ensure an inviting atmosphere that helps kids feel both safe and welcome, and supports the intimacy of the work being done. The cafeteria has been renovated to look like a diner and features a working 1957 Thunderbird jukebox. The residential common area boasts an airplane fuselage suspended from the ceiling, a 14-foot vintage sunray sailboat coffee table and numerous décor elements from the Columbus Zoo.
