The Hidden Truth: Deception in Women’s Health Care
OCALA, Fla. (PRWEB) December 07, 2015 -- Throughout the lifetime of a female, most will deal with physical, emotional and psychological demands of a monthly reproductive cycle, pregnancy and childrearing all while managing a household and a full time job. So why are they still required to make health care choices that further compromise their overall wellbeing while men are left with little to no responsibility for issues like STD prevention and birth control?
Dr. John Littell, a physician with more than 25 years of experience in obstetrics, gynecology and family practice feels strongly about this issue and shares valuable insight in his new book, “The Hidden Truth: Deception in Women’s Health Care,” that range from HPV vaccinations in children to the diagnosis and treatment of HPV-related disease to the numerous choices related to contraception and family planning.
“I have spent my career listening to and providing health care to women and children and believe this book is their voice even more so than mine,” Littell said. “When my patient care experience began to teach me many things that were at odds with what I was learning at lectures or in medical journals, I felt it was time to share my consternation with others.”
Littell bore his book from the love he has for the women in his own life including his mother, wife and four daughters. He hopes to better empower women to make informed decisions about their health care, and that of their families.
“What I’ve learned from my patients is that many young women have struggled to find a method of contraception or family planning that does not cause harmful side effects,” Littell said. “Oftentimes, these women and their partners are seeking natural alternatives but could not find a physician who had knowledge about anything other than pills, patches, implants and shots.”
