The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey Pledges $50,000 for Philippine Victims of Typhoon Haiyan
Newark, NJ (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey (Foundation), the charitable arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, announced today it has pledged a total of $50,000 in support to the relief agencies helping the victims of the November 8 typhoon in the Philippines.
The Foundation created a special employee matching gifts program in which donations to any of the five designated relief agencies will be matched by the Foundation on a 2-to-1 basis. The program will be offered to all Horizon BCBSNJ employees through the end of the year.
The following relief agencies are part of the Foundation’s Philippines Disaster Matching Gifts program:
• American Red Cross Northern New Jersey Chapter
• Doctors Without Borders
• International Medical Corps
• Samaritan’s Purse
• U.S. Fund for UNICEF
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people of the Philippines who must cope with the devastating aftermath of Typhon Haiyan,” said Robert A. Marino, Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. “Many of our Asian-American employees have friends and family members who have been affected by the storm.”
