The Jockey Club Participates in Handicapping Tournament
San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2014 -- The San Mateo Jockey Club is participating in a state-wide handicapping tournament with monthly cash prizes and a chance to compete in the Daily Racing Form/National Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas.
The first tournament will be on Saturday, Aug. 30. The entry fee will be $20, all of which will be placed in a state-wide prize pool. Participants will then place an additional $30 on a wagering card and make $6 Win/Place/Show bets on any five California races that day for a total of $30 wagered. Complete rules are available at the Jockey Club.
By the following day, the results will be in, and the top 10 participants will receive a share of the prize pool. The top 10 finishers from each tournament (there will be four altogether, currently scheduled for Aug. 30, Sept. 13, Oct. 11 and Nov. 8, subject to change) will qualify for the CalRacing.com Player’s Tournament Finals on Nov. 29. From that tournament, three players will qualify for the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas in 2015.
Of course, there’s a winner in every race and you can share in the rewards of winning at the Jockey Club each and every time you visit, whether or not you enter the contest. There have been some excellent payouts from Del Mar, and they race until Wednesday, Sept. 3. Golden Gate Fields starts up again on Friday, Aug. 15 and the Humboldt Fair racing up in Ferndale runs from Wednesday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 24.
Plenty of racing action from California and beyond is available every Wednesday through Sunday at the Jockey Club. Doors open at 10 a.m., with night racing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including racing from Australia.
