New York, New York (PRWEB) April 17, 2015 -- The Kenkou Group has noticed a surge in the catastrophic and long-term care needs for professional athletes. As a way to combat this recent trend, and also give a voice to professional and young athletes in need of comprehensive care resulting from athletic injuries, The Kenkou Group has launched the Rebound Injury campaign. The campaign is designed to educate and advocate for preventative medicine within the professional sporting community.
“It’s common knowledge that injuries, or the risk of sustaining an injury, comes with the job of being a professional athlete. Athletes put their bodies on the line every time they train, practice and compete. Athletes learn to play through pain, but there is a distinct difference between playing hurt and risking one’s long-term health by playing injured,” said Shenekia Loud, Chief Executive Officer of The Kenkou Group. “The goals of the Rebound Injury campaign are to provide education and resources to all persons in the professional sporting industry and to offer care options for preventative health and post-injury recovery.”
The Kenkou Group has noted that basketball, for example, has 82 games per each team’s season. Since 2010, The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) has recommended preventing jumpers' knee through strengthening and increasing flexibility of the quadriceps muscles, and by resting when the pain becomes too intense. While jumper’s knee is common in the NBA, it can lead to other serious medical issues and sometimes preventable surgery.
“When fans watch a NBA game, we want to see awe-inspiring dunks, intimidating blocks and mean crossovers. What we don’t want is to see our favorite player out for the season or a player cut because his health has become a liability to the team,” Loud continued. “I’ve personally seen serious health issues in a few athletes this year alone. While these issues aren’t directly related to their professional sporting career, I can’t help but wonder how they are overlooked during required physicals. A conversation on health and prevention has to become part of the sporting world’s vernacular and I’m delighted to help facilitate it.”
The Kenkou Group will provide education and prevention tips on a section of their corporate website and social media accounts dedicated to the Rebound Injury campaign. These tips will also be available in The Kenkou Group’s press packets. The information will include statistics, warning signs and prevention tips through a series of infographics and articles.
The Rebound Injury campaign officially kicks off on Monday, April 20th. Preview interviews and a media pack for the campaign are available earlier upon qualified request. A fact sheet on professional sport injuries within the pro sports is also available upon request. The KenKou Group's media agent, Helene Vece, can be reached 24/7 for reporters working against tight deadlines.
