The Knight Family of Kennesaw, GA Selected as Finalist in Montlick & Associates' 2013 “Most Deserving Military Family Contest”; Public Voting Underway Now Thru July 15

John Knight, a Purple Heart recipient, husband and father, is one of five finalists in this year’s “Most Deserving Military Family Contest”, sponsored by Georgia Auto Accident Attorneys, Montlick & Associates. Initially launched on Memorial Day, the public was invited to nominate deserving military families by sending in their stories and photographs. The winning family will be determined by the voting public through July 15, 2013 at http://www.wsbtv.com/contests.
The nomination letter for the Knight Family recounts how, after a six-month tour in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, Tech. Sgt. John Knight - a member of the 2nd Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department - was ready to go home. His bags were packed, and he was just hours from take-off when Sgt. Knight’s living quarters were directly hit with a mortar round. The family of this devoted husband and father would have to wait for his homecoming, because of the injuries Sgt. Knight suffered in the attack. Sgt. Knight was awarded the Purple Heart on May 7, 2011. More than two years after returning home to Lawrenceville, GA, Sgt. Knight still has a long road of recovery and surgeries ahead of him.

The five finalists were selected from all the nominations by the team at WSB-TV.
